| Wow, what an intense two weeks! God was working and both I, personally, and the team were able to touch the lives of many kids. What an amazing opportunity! Not that it was easy - as usual where the Lord was working the devil was not far behind. The last two weeks have been two of the most intensive weeks of spiritual warfare that I have had in a long time. With smashing attaks on several fronts at the same time (I am sorry to say that the devil even used fellow team members), I had a tough battle, but, praise God, in his strength I was victorious! Now I have a week and a half of frantic preparation for my mission trip to Ecuador (8/8 - 8/20)! w00t! | | |
| That's right I'm starting my annual two week tour as a Bible Study teacher for my church's VBS. Starting at about 9:30 am tomorrow I will be standing before groups of 15-30 children (ages 5-10) and teaching a lesson from the Bible (the same lesson will be given four times so that all the children will hear it). May God give me the words to say. I will try to comment between VBSs but I can't guarentee it. I will comment after both. Still enjoying "Jesus Freaks" and will take it with me to Waldport, OR where I'm doing the second VBS... "Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 3:13-14 | | |
| As I'm sure you all noticed, I have some new links on my site. Although I have used Ray Comfort's resources for many years (especially "The Way of the Master"), I had never visited his website. Wow! I was impressed at the extensive online resources he had available and excited to see that he made them easy to link to. So these are just a few of my favorites. I encourage you to use them and look into them - they are quite good. As my pastor recently said, one of the things that I really apriciate about his recources is that he uses the law for it's intended purpose, to convict of sin (see Gal. 3:24, Romans 7:4-6 and Romans 10:4 - indeed all of Romans 6, 7 & 10). My site now features "Sonata in D Major, K491" by Sarlatti, performed by one of my favorite classical pianists - Vladimir Horowitz. (see currently reading at the top) Wow. This book is very gripping. There is something very inspiring about reading the stories of those who laid it all on the line for their faith. Very convicting, too, because you keep asking yourself, "Would I have done that in his place?" Then you pray that you would, and pray that Christ would give you His strength to live every moment entirely surrendered to Him. Or, in other words, "Live every day as if it were your last." That is something that I, and I think many others, easily lose sight of. Finally, I would just like to clarify for those of you who haven't or couldn't follow the previous thred: my previous post "Don't Beat People Up with Scripture" was not directed specifically at anyone. Rather I was merely posting a danger sign on a dangerous path that I see amny Christians to be on, with the hope that not only would those on the path take warning and get off before it was too late, but also that others coming to the path would avoid it. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings. | | |
| This is a day later than I wanted, but that’s because I was on the firing crew in a professional fireworks display. What a blast! If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life, And I had to start again with just my children and my wife, I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today, 'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away.
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free, And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me, And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land, God Bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota to the hills of Tennessee, Across the plains of Texas from sea to shining sea. From Detroit down to Houston and New York to L.A., There's pride in every American heart and it's time we stand and say:
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free, And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me, And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land, God Bless the U.S.A.
